Who's Behind this?

In-house sprouted from Academy Agency. Founded in 2020 by Harry Dalton, Academy is a hybrid marketing agency specialising in digital marketing, content creation and strategy. 

We still actively operate the agency with a select handful of clients across multiple industries and countries. This enables us to continue to keep a very close ear to the ground in the marketing world, and to test and learn.

Who needs an agency when you've got you?

How did it get started?

To be honest with you, the reason we started In-House is a bit of a grim story.

In 2024, Academy Agency got hit three times by the exact same scenario.

We had successfully grown three of our largest clients to such a size that they were able to recruit an in-house marketing manager, removing the need for us as their specialised agency.

At which point we, the agency, were given the squeeze from the company.

That’s just business, and although it was a tough pill to swallow at the time, we would’ve done the same if we were in their position.

So we had a choice to make:

1. Stay grumpy and get angry at the world for something that makes absolute sense.

2. Spot a trend and innovate towards it.

We chose the second option. We listened to our clients, and spoke to dozens of other founders and directors and noticed that they all wanted the same thing:

To bring their digital marketing and content creation in-house.

So why did these directors want to bring things in-house? From our conversations, most of these executives felt that working with an agency was a big cost, rather than an investment. They wanted their internal team to be able to do what we did for them.

Fair enough. As business owners we can see what they mean.

So instead of jumping on the hamster wheel and having the same thing continue to happen to us, we thought: “How could we cater to these directors who want their marketing team to be able to perform as good as we could?”

Thus In-House was born. A marketing training platform for in-house teams to learn and level-up their marketing skills.
